Grandma's Brownies

This recipe is appearing on my blog for a couple reasons.  One, because its delcious.  Two, because I made them yesterday and was asked for the recipe.  In fact, I don't know if there's been a time where I've made them and haven't been asked for the recipe.  Forget every brownie you've ever eaten; these are different.  I wish I could explain them well, but they're hard to describe.  They're not fudgy and oily like your average box brownie.  Instead, they're smooth and buttery with the perfect chocolate profile.  Not too sweet and not too bitter - sure to please all everyone.  The best part of these from-scratch brownies?  Fast and easy.  They can easily be done (start to finish) in about 45 minutes.  Another great thing is that they use ingredients you would typically have on hand...so this is a great "go-to" recipe for a last minute dessert need. Oh, and I forgot to mention!  This is my Grandma Love's recipe.  She knew what she was doing.

Grandma's Brownies
4 eggs
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 c. (2 sticks) butter
1 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.  Greese and flour a 9x13 baking pan, tapping out excess flour.

In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the chocolate chips and butter together until smooth, stirring occasionally.  Meanwhile, beat the eggs until they are thick and lemon colored - about 2-3 minutes.  Gradually add the sugar, beating well.  Stir in the melted chocolate mixture.  Add the vanilla.  Fold in the flour and salt. Pour into your prepared pan.  Bake for 30 mins.  (Optional: if you like nuts, you can top them with chopped walnuts before baking).
